Damaged Screw Extractor / Remover

Every pencil needs an eraser, just as every kit needs an extractor.   Murphy’s law guarantees that, on a long enough timeline, every P80’er will run into a stripped screw or bolt.  It is at that moment that you will either be glad to have a screw extractor or you will be upset your kids were around to hear your foul language.

Admittedly these aren’t something you use every day, and it can be argued they are not “P80” because you will encounter stripped screws less than 5 – 10% of the time. Thus making this somewhat of a speciality tool.    But consider this – screw extractors take up very little room, weigh next to nothing, and will convert an hour of fastener frustration into a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
There is one rule you must follow for your P80 kit, as soon as your receive your extractor kit you must throw out the cheap plastic case they come in.  That’s right, throw it out.  Go ahead, no remorse, you’ll never miss it.   Why waste over 6 infor a cheap plastic case when you can throw all four in a pocket and never know they are there until you need them.

One last note, there are numerous manufactures of these bits on the market and you may find a lower cost version, and that version may be just as good.  However,  be sure to read the reviews on material quality.  Some manufactures use cheap metal that will strip out when you use them – especially on hardened fasteners.
